Macro Traders: Get the Key Levels Without Learning Technical Analysis

You trade the macro thesis, not the chart. But before you put the trade on, you still want a read on support, resistance, and the trend. Here is how to get that basic technical picture with AI, without becoming a chartist.

You do not trade the chart. Your edge is the macro read: rates, growth, positioning, the catalyst. But when it is time to actually put the trade on, you still want a quick technical picture. Where is support if you are wrong. Where is resistance if you are early. Is the level stretched, or is there room. Learning technical analysis to answer that is a poor use of your time. Getting the answer from AI is not. Here is how a macro trader uses MyLinedChart to get the key levels, without becoming a technician.

The macro trader's real chart question

A macro trader does not ask the chart what to do. The thesis comes first: a view on rates, a currency, a commodity, a policy shift. The chart is not the idea. It is the timing and the risk around the idea.

So the questions are narrow and practical. If I am right, where does this run to. If I am wrong, where is the level that tells me. Am I chasing something already stretched, or is there room to enter. Those are technical questions, but you do not need to be a technician to want the answers.

Let the AI draw the levels

In MyLinedChart you do not have to find and draw support and resistance yourself. You ask, in plain language: mark the key support and resistance on this chart, or where has this level held before. The AI reads the chart and draws the lines, labeled, on your live IBKR chart.

That is the whole point of the AI connection for a macro trader. It does the technical work you did not want to learn, and gives you the picture in seconds. You bring the macro view. It brings the levels.

Use the levels for entry and risk, not signals

This is not about turning your macro trade into a technical one. You are not trading the crossover or the pattern. You are using a couple of levels to place a good entry and a sensible stop around a thesis you already believe.

A level to lean on for the entry. A level that invalidates the trade if it breaks. The overall trend, so you are not fighting the tape on day one. That is enough. It sharpens the execution of a macro idea without changing what the idea is.

Keep the levels with your thesis

Once the levels are on your chart, they export as structured data, JSON, XLSX, or CSV, right alongside your own notes. So the record of the trade holds both halves: the macro why, and the technical where.

When you review the position later, you are not staring at a screenshot trying to remember the levels you were watching. They are in the record, as data, next to the thesis. For the export details, see TradingView vs TrendSpider vs MyLinedChart: Structured Chart Exports for Real Trading Processes.

Where this fits

MyLinedChart runs locally on your own IBKR session, so the chart and the data stay on your device. The AI reads and draws on the chart, every change confirmed by you, and it never places a trade or touches your account.

To try it, start at Pricing. To connect your AI, see MCP toolkit.

FAQ

I do not do technical analysis. Is this still for me?

Yes. The point is that you do not have to. You ask the AI where the key levels are, and it draws them. You get the technical context for a macro trade without learning to chart.

Does this turn my macro trade into a technical trade?

No. You keep your macro thesis. The levels are just for a better entry and a sensible stop. You are not trading signals or patterns.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You ask in natural language, and the AI draws the levels and, if you want, exports them for you.

Does the AI trade for me?

No. It only reads and draws on your chart, every change is confirmed by you, and it never touches your account or orders.
