The MyLinedChart Menu Bar and Tray Icon
From version 1.0.59, MyLinedChart puts a small icon in the Mac menu bar and in the Windows notification area. It opens the app, the website, a bug report with a screenshot of your chart, or a feature request. The same release shows What's New once after each update, with Don't show again, and moves Chart Data into the right-hand panel.
Version 1.0.59 adds three small things that make the desktop app easier to live with: an icon in the menu bar or tray, a What's New note that shows once and then gets out of the way, and Chart Data in the right-hand panel with the other tools.
Short Answer
Look for the chart icon in the Mac menu bar, or in the Windows notification area next to the clock. Click it for Open MyLinedChart, Visit Website, Report a Bug, Feature Request and Quit MyLinedChart.
What the Menu Does
On Windows, a single click on the tray icon opens the app window, and the icon is the app's own icon. On a Mac it is a small chart symbol that follows the light or dark menu bar.
- Open MyLinedChart brings the app window to the front, or opens a new one if you closed it.
- Visit Website opens mylinedchart.com in your browser.
- Report a Bug opens the app's Report a Problem form, the same one as in the Help menu. It attaches a screenshot of your chart and your app version, so we can see what you saw.
- Feature Request opens the feature request page, the same one the account menu links to.
- Quit MyLinedChart closes the app.
What's New After Each Update
After an update, MyLinedChart shows the release notes for the version you are now running, once. The notes come from the same list as the changelog on this site, so the app and the site always agree. See /changelog for every release.
If you would rather not see the notes pop up, press Don't show again. The pop-up stays off for every later update. What's New is still in the account menu, and a small dot on your account button tells you when there are notes you have not read.
Chart Data in the Right-Hand Panel
Chart Data is where you pick the broker or data provider the chart uses and enter your keys. In 1.0.59 it opens in the right-hand panel, in the same rail as Screener, AI, Formula, Alerts and Positions. Outside clicks and the Escape key no longer close it by accident; its own close button does.
Which Versions Have It
The menu bar item and tray icon come with version 1.0.59 of the Mac and Windows apps. What's New and Chart Data in the right-hand panel are in 1.0.59 on every platform. The Download MyLinedChart page lists where 1.0.59 is available today.
FAQ
Where is the MyLinedChart icon on Windows?
In the notification area at the right of the taskbar, next to the clock. If Windows has hidden it, open the small arrow there to find it.
Does Report a Bug send anything by itself?
No. It opens the Report a Problem form with a screenshot of your chart and your app version attached, and you choose whether to send it.
How do I stop What's New from popping up?
Press Don't show again under the notes. The pop-up stays off for later updates, and What's New stays in the account menu.
