Most data vendors split markets across separate products, so a chart that covers a US stock, EURUSD, bitcoin and gold usually means several keys. Sifting serves all four from one API key, and MyLinedChart connects to it as a single provider. This guide covers the setup, the symbol formats and the two errors you can run into.

Connect the Key

Sign up at sifting.io, open your dashboard and generate an API key. No brokerage account is involved.

In MyLinedChart, open Data Providers, choose Sifting, paste the key and click Connect. The key stays on your device. Sifting does not list an expiry, so the key keeps working until you replace it.

Picking a Symbol in Each Market

The quickest way is the symbol box: type a name and pick a result. Search covers all four markets and fills in the right market for you.

To type a symbol yourself, start it with a market prefix. A bare ticker means a US stock.

The prefix is not case sensitive.

Intervals and Long Ranges

Intervals run from 1 minute to 1 month. Sifting caps each request at a set number of bars, so a long range is fetched in several requests of up to 1000 bars each and joined into one continuous chart.

Scrolling far back on a 1 minute chart therefore takes a few extra requests. Use a higher interval when you want a long view.

If a Market Does Not Load

A 403 means your Sifting plan does not include that market. Sifting sets the price and the plan, so change the plan in your dashboard and the market opens up again.

A 429 means too many requests in a short time. The reply carries a wait time in seconds. Pause, then reload the chart.

  • 403: plan leaves out that market.
  • 429: wait the number of seconds shown, then retry.
  • No candles for a symbol: check the prefix and spelling, or search for it.

FAQ

Do I need a separate key for forex or crypto?

No. One Sifting key covers US stocks, forex, crypto and commodities, as long as your plan includes each market.

How do I choose forex instead of a stock?

Start the symbol with FOREX:, for example FOREX:EURUSD. Picking the result from search does this for you.

Why do I get a 403 on one market?

Your Sifting plan leaves out that market. Change the plan in your Sifting dashboard.

Does MyLinedChart need a brokerage account for Sifting?

No. Sifting is a data provider, so you only need its API key.
