How to Connect Perplexity for Mac to MyLinedChart
Step by step: install Perplexity's helper on your Mac, add MyLinedChart as a connector, and turn it on under Sources to ask Perplexity about your live chart.
Perplexity's Mac app can run local connectors, small programs on your computer that hand it tools. MyLinedChart's connector is one of them. Once added, Perplexity can combine its web research with the exact levels, candles and indicators on your MyLinedChart chart. Local connectors work in the Perplexity Mac app only.
Before you start
You need the Perplexity app for Mac, signed in, MyLinedChart open on the same Mac, and Node.js, which the connector runs on. If you use Homebrew, brew install node installs it. The Perplexity apps for Windows, phones and the web do not run local connectors.
Get the command from MyLinedChart
- Open MyLinedChart and click AI in the chart toolbar. If the AI panel shows a chat instead of the setup, click AI settings.
- Under Use the AI app you already have, the connect cards are listed. If an AI app is already connected, the cards are folded away: click Connect another AI app to show them.
- Find the Codex card and click Copy, then paste the text somewhere you can edit it.
- Keep only the part after the two dashes. The command is either npx -y @mylinedchart/mcp-chart-context or node followed by the path to the connector inside MyLinedChart. Perplexity needs only that part.
Add the connector in Perplexity, step by step
- Open Perplexity, go to your account settings and click Connectors.
- If Perplexity asks you to install the PerplexityXPC helper, install it. The helper lets the sandboxed Mac app start programs on your computer.
- Back in Connectors, click Add Connector and stay on the Simple tab.
- Server Name: MyLinedChart.
- Command: paste the command from the previous section.
- Click Save and wait for the connector to show Running.
- On the Perplexity home screen, open Sources and switch MyLinedChart on.
- Back in MyLinedChart, the AI panel shows a green dot and AI connected with the app's name once the connection is live. If the dot stays red, quit and reopen the AI app with MyLinedChart running.
Good first questions
Perplexity is strongest when it mixes the chart with research.
- Read my chart and list my drawn levels with prices.
- Compare my levels with this week's news on the same symbol.
- Draw yesterday's high and low and label them.
Limits
Perplexity proposes chart changes and you approve each one in MyLinedChart. MyLinedChart never places, modifies or cancels an order; account access is read-only.

FAQ
Can I use this in Perplexity on Windows or the web?
No. Local connectors need the Perplexity Mac app and its PerplexityXPC helper.
The connector never shows Running. What should I check?
Make sure Node.js is installed, the command has nothing before npx or node, and MyLinedChart is open.
Can Perplexity trade through MyLinedChart?
No. Orders are read-only and no tool can place, change or cancel one.
