How to Connect Claude to MyLinedChart (Claude Desktop and Claude Code)
Step by step: install the MyLinedChart connector in Claude Desktop from the .mcpb file, or add it to Claude Code with one command, then ask Claude about your live chart.
Claude can read the chart you have open in MyLinedChart: the symbol, timeframe, candles, your drawn levels and your indicators, with exact prices. Claude can also draw back onto the chart, and you approve each change. Claude Desktop installs the connection from a single .mcpb file that MyLinedChart prepares for you. Claude Code takes one command. Both routes are below, step by step.
Before you start
You need MyLinedChart installed and open, and Claude Desktop or Claude Code on the same computer. Claude must be signed in on whatever plan you already use. MyLinedChart does not add a Claude account or bill you for Claude.
Claude Desktop, step by step
Claude Desktop uses an extension file with the .mcpb ending. MyLinedChart packages the connector into that file for you.
- Open MyLinedChart and click AI in the chart toolbar. If the AI panel shows a chat instead of the setup, click AI settings.
- Under Use the AI app you already have, the connect cards are listed. If an AI app is already connected, the cards are folded away: click Connect another AI app to show them.
- On the Claude Desktop card, click Prepare Claude connector (on a Mac the button reads Install in Claude Desktop). MyLinedChart saves mylinedchart-chart-context.mcpb to your Downloads folder. If you see a .crdownload file, the download is unfinished; wait for it to complete.
- Open Claude Desktop and go to Settings > Extensions > Advanced settings > Install Extension.
- Choose mylinedchart-chart-context.mcpb from Downloads, then accept Install.
- Start a new chat in Claude Desktop with MyLinedChart still open. Older chats do not pick up a newly installed extension.
- Back in MyLinedChart, the AI panel shows a green dot and AI connected with the app's name once the connection is live. If the dot stays red, quit and reopen the AI app with MyLinedChart running.
Claude Code, step by step
Claude Code adds the connection from your terminal.
- Find the Claude Code card and click Copy. The command starts with claude mcp add mylinedchart --.
- Paste the command into your terminal and press Return.
- Start a new Claude Code session with MyLinedChart open, and run MCP toolkit to confirm mylinedchart is listed as connected.
What the command contains
The command in the card is built for your computer. When MyLinedChart ships its own copy of the connector, the command runs node with the path to that copy, so the connector updates whenever the app does. Otherwise it runs npx -y @mylinedchart/mcp-chart-context. Both need Node.js installed. Copy the card's text rather than retyping it.
First things to ask Claude
Start with a read, then ask for a drawing, so you can see both directions work.
- Read my chart and describe the setup in natural language.
- List every level I have drawn on this symbol with its exact price.
- Draw yesterday's high and low and label them.
- Turn the level at the top of the range into a written trading rule with an entry and an invalidation.
What Claude can and cannot do
Claude can read your chart context, candles, drawings, indicators, trades and a screenshot of the chart. Claude can propose trend lines, levels, zones, Fibonacci retracements, notes and indicators, and change the symbol or timeframe. Each change waits for your approval in MyLinedChart. By default Claude can only edit what it drew; turn on Let AI edit my drawings in the AI panel if you want it to edit yours too. MyLinedChart never places, modifies or cancels an order; account access is read-only.

FAQ
Where do I find the .mcpb file after clicking Prepare Claude connector?
MyLinedChart saves mylinedchart-chart-context.mcpb to your Downloads folder. Install it from Claude Desktop with Settings > Extensions > Advanced settings > Install Extension.
Claude Desktop installed the extension but Claude cannot see my chart. What now?
Start a new chat, and make sure MyLinedChart is open. If the AI panel in MyLinedChart still shows a red dot, quit and reopen Claude Desktop with MyLinedChart running.
Does Claude Code need anything besides the command?
Node.js, because the connector runs on it. Copy the command from the Claude Code card so the path or package name matches your install.
Can Claude trade from my account?
No. The connection is read-only for orders and Claude cannot place, modify or cancel one. Chart changes need your approval.
